Build the base
Train consistently in the adult or kids program until the fundamentals are second nature.
Intensive training for athletes who want to test themselves. Led by Head Coach Mike Powell, a black belt and two-time amateur MMA champion, who pushes you beyond your goals.
Why compete
Competition is the fastest way to find out what works under real pressure. Whether you're preparing for your first local tournament or chasing a podium, our coaches will help you build a game plan, sharpen your strengths, and fix the holes.
The competition team is led by Head Coach Mike Powell. Mike has been grappling since 2006, won two amateur MMA titles in 2010, earned his black belt under Rubao Carioca, and has coached full time since 2014. He leads competition training for the team and teaches the kids competition class.
Training for competition means harder rounds, specific drilling, and coaching from someone who has been there. Black belt Mitch Alley, a Strength and Conditioning Specialist with a degree in Exercise Science, helps competitors get in shape for event day.
Competing is never required. When you're ready, tell Coach Mike and he'll get you there.
The path

Tell Mike you want to compete. Together you'll set goals and choose an event that fits your experience.
Harder rounds, specific drilling, and open mats to get the extra time on the mat you need.
Compete, then come back and fix what you learned. Win or lose, every match makes you better.
